As missionaries living in the country of Costa Rica, our hearts were gripped for the children on the streets living in marginalized communities with few resources and little hope of a brighter future. An opportunity arose with a Costa Rican pastor, Geovanny Calderon, and his family for a partnership that would potentially change the lives of many. In November of 2014, a group of people arrived in Coronado, Costa Rica, and began construction on a road and a bridge that would be the beginning of the House of Hope. This is what we have called Phase One of our building project, which took many teams to complete. A bridge, a road up the mountain, and excavation at the top of the mountain completed phase one and gave us access to begin construction on two homes that would be the headquarters for the House of Hope.
