Trip FAQ

What does a trip to Costa Rica Cost?

Trip costs are simple.  You will need to purchase your round-trip tickets from your local airport to San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO).  In addition to ticket costs, the per-diem covering your daily expenses will be $40 per day.  Upon leaving the country, each person will be charged a $30 national exit fee at the airport.

What is included in the cost of the trip?

In Costa Rica you will receive transportation to and from the airport, transportation to and from ministry sites, meals, safe drinking water and sleeping accommodations.

Where will we be staying?

Each team will be housed at the House of Hope cabins, located in Coronado, Costa Rica. Both of our cabins have rooms with six bunk beds (sleeping 12), commode, and shower accommodations.  You will not need to bring bedding as it is provided for you.

What is the dress code?

Participants are on mission at all times: at work sites, at the cabins and during off-site activities. Our desire is to make a positive impact on everyone that we come into contact with at all times. How we dress is an important part of our witness. Participants should make a special effort to wear clothes that are modest and appropriate for the work to which we have been called.

Sleeved shirts are to be worn by all participants at all times. Shorts are acceptable on the work sites. Shorts should be modest in length (no shorter than 2″ above the knee). Durable shoes with closed toes must be worn at all work sites.  Sandals and flip-flops are not allowed on any work site.

In addition, we will be attending a church service.  Men, please wear pants (khakis are acceptable) and ladies please wear a dress or skirt.

What immunizations do I need?

No vaccines are required to enter Costa Rica but see the recommended list from the CDC:

You will need to have an up to date tetanus shot.
